  Hoje iremos publicar um artigo dos primeiros dias após a vitória de ABBA no Eurovision Song Contest. Este artigo foi publicado na Alemanha, na revista BRAVO.

As coisas que alguém deve saber sobre o quarteto ABBA: Como eles vivem, como eles se amam, como eles tocam.

Anni-Frid quer casar em breve
Anni-Frid Lyngstad nasceu a 15 de Novembro de 1945 em Eskilstuna. Antes de fazer parte de ABBA, ela já era bem conhecida na Suécia como cantora solo devido a vários programas de televisão. Anni-Frid é a mais sossegada do grupo, rapariga misteriosa. À parte disso, ela é a responsável pelos coloridos e brilhantes roupas em palco. Há dois anos que ela está apaixonada pelo Benny, há um ano que está noiva dele e continua este ano, ela quer casar com ele. Ambos estão a viver na vizinhança de Björn e Agnetha: No subúrbio Vallentuna de Estocolmo, onde eles alugaram uma casa.

Benny está a fazer os negócios 

Benny Andersson nasceu em 16 de Dezembro de 1946, em Estocolmo. Ele é o pianista do grupo e manager. Diariamente, Benny lê - que é o seu passatempo - pelo menos vinte jornais de toda a Europa. Benny sabe exactamente quando e onde ABBA tem um lugar nas tabelas. De momento ele tem imensas razões para sorrir: Em praticamente toda a Europa, ABBA é número um com o seu "Waterloo". Como pianista do grupo, ele está a produzir o álbum da sua namorada Anni-Frid como projecto paralelo. "Nós temos toda liberdade para gravarmos em nossa conta na Suécia", disse Benny.

Agnetha gosta de ser caseira

Agnetha Fältskog nasceu a 5 de Abril de 1950, em Jönköping. Antes de fazer parte de ABBA, ela teve um grande sucesso em 1968 na Suécia chamado "Eu Estava Tão Apaixonada" e ela era uma cantora top na Escandinávia. Apesar da sua carreira, Agnetha ama a vida familiar e adora cozinhar. Agnetha está casada com Björn e há um ano que eles têm uma filha em comum, chamada Linda. Como Anni-Frid, Agnetha está a lançar também o seu próprio material a solo na Suécia. Agnetha é uma típica rapariga sueca: Loira, cheia de vida e ela faz o que ela quiser. O seu segredo infalível é fazer compras no supermercado horas a fio. 

Björn é o chefe secreto

Björn Ulvaeus nasceu a 25 de Abril de 1945, em Gotemburgo. Ele consegue tocar vários instrumentos de corda e no estúdio de gravação ele é responsável pelo som de ABBA. Ele ganhou experiência com o grupo tradicional sueco Hootenany Singers, ele tocou com eles até há dois anos atrás. Quando Björn não está na estrada com ABBA, ele produz outras estrelas suecas como a cantora de 17 anos Ted Gärdestad. Continua, em vez de gastar tempo na mesa de mistura, ele está a divertir-se mais actuando com ABBA, onde ele toca o baixo e a guitarra. Há vários anos que Björn conduz um Volkswagen vermelho.

  "Este triunfo custou-nos um grande par de nervos" suspirou a loira Agnetha quando pegou no fotografo da BRAVO Bubi Heilennan e eu no hotel Sheraton de manhã em Estocolmo. "Desde que ganhamos o Eurovision Song Contest com Waterloo ,nós temos estado na estrada constantemente. Londres, Bruxelas, Amesterdão, Madrid, Hamburgo Agora estamos de volta a casa desde três dias," disse Agnetha. "Obrigada Deus!"

  Agnetha prefere estar em Estocolmo. Na cidade com muitos canais, barcos, as raparigas bonitas e discotecas divertidas, onde Agnetha tem que mostrar o seu cartão de identidade a maioria das vezes quando ela quer pedir um Gin-Tonic. Porque na Suécia é permitido beber álcool com 21 anos de idade, e Agnetha aparenta como tivesse 18. Uma e outra vez, ocorrências como esta são boas oportunidades para ABBA brincar. Eles adoram rir muito. O aviso deles é típico sueco: Trabalhar para viver. E não de outra maneira. 

  Desde Brighton, ABBA é conhecido como o grupo pop sueco mais bem sucedido. ABBA descobriu o que ninguém sabia ainda: Ao mesmo tempo, ABBA são dois casais apaixonados (Björn e Agnetha; Benny e Anni-Frid) e um grupo alegre que produz boa música...

  Numa pequena e secreta ilha, a duas horas de Estocolmo, o quarteto possui uma casa e um veleiro. O quarteto gasta horas de felicidade aí. 

  Agnetha e Anni-Frid, as duas cantoras e dançarinas, são a maior atracção de ABBA de momento. Originalmente, isto era ao contrário. Há dois anos atrás, Björn e Benny contrataram estas duas loiras como cantoras de coro. Não apenas por causa do talento delas. Foi amor à primeira vista com todos os quatro, e isso foi mantido desta maneira até hoje.

  Às três da tarde, nós estávamos a passear com ABBA pela parte velha de Estocolmo. De repente, eles tiveram uma ideia para fazer algo doido. Björn e Benny foram para uma loja de música, para terem uma guitarra e um banjo. E mesmo no meio de um pequeno e idílico mercado, eles começaram a tocar. Mulheres com sacos de compras, homens a trabalhar, homens polícias, rapazes e raparigas continuavam de pé, cantando espontaneamente, batendo as mãos. ABBA aconteceu para ser um grupo, não apenas num ecrã de televisão, ganha o coração das pessoas rapidamente...

Anni-Frid wants to get married soon
Anni-Frid Lyngstad was born on November 15, 1945 in Eskilstuna. Before she joined ABBA, she was already well-known in Sweden as a solo singer due to several TV-shows. Anni-Frid is the group’s quiet, mysterious girl. Apart from that, she’s responsible for the colourful, glittering stage costumes. Since two years, she’s in love with Benny, since one year she’s engaged to him and still this year she wants to get married to him. Both of them are living in the neighbourhood of Björn and Agnetha: in the Stockholm suburb Vallentuna where they have rented a house.

Benny is doing the business

Benny Andersson was born on December 16, 1946 in Stockholm. He is the group’s pianist and manager. On a daily basis, Benny is reading – that’s his passion – at least twenty newspapers from all over Europe. Benny knows exactly when and where ABBA has which position in the charts. At the moment he has plenty to smile about: in almost every European country, ABBA is at number one with their "Waterloo". As the group’s pianist, he is now producing an album for his girlfriend Anni-Frid as a side project. “We all have the freedom to record albums of our own in Sweden,” Benny says...

Agnetha likes to play housewife
Agnetha Fältskog was born on April 5, 1950 in Jönköping. Before she joined the group, she had a big hit in Sweden in 1968 called "I Was So In Love" and she was Scandinavia’s top singer. Despite her career, Agnetha loves the family life and she loves to cook. Anna is married to Björn and since one year they have a daughter together, named Linda. Just like Anni-Frid, Agnetha is releasing her own solo records in Sweden as well. Agnetha is a typical Swedish girl: blonde, full of life and she does as she pleases. Her secret "flaw" is shopping at the supermarket for hours on end.

Björn is the secret boss

Björn Ulvaeus was born on April 25, 1945 in Göteborg. He can play several stringed instruments and in the recording studio he is responsible for the ABBA-sound. He has gathered experience with the Swedish folk group Hootenanny Singers, he played with them up till two years ago. Whenever Björn is not on the road with ABBA, he is producing other Swedish stars such as the 17-year-old singer Ted Gärdestad. Still, instead of spending time at the mixing console, he’s having more fun performing live with ABBA, where he is playing bass and guitar. Since several years, Björn is driving a red VW.

  “This triumph has cost us a great deal of nerves,” blonde Agnetha sighs when she picks Bravo photographer Bubi Heilemann and me up at the Sheraton hotel in Stockholm in the morning. “Ever since we won the Eurovision Song Contest with ‘Waterloo’, we’ve been on the road constantly. London, Brussels, Amsterdam, Madrid, Hamburg. Now we’re back home again since three days,” Agnetha says. “Thank God!”

  Agnetha prefers to be here in Stockholm. In the city with its many canals, boats, the pretty girls and the fun discotheques, where Agnetha has to show her identity card most of the time when she wants to order a Gin-Tonic. Because in Sweden you are allowed to drink alcohol at the age of 21, and Agnetha looks as if she’s 18. Time and time again, occurrences like this are a welcome opportunity for ABBA to joke around. They love to laugh a lot. And their device is typically Swedish: work to live. And not the other way around.

  Since Brighton, ABBA is known as the most successful Swedish pop group. Bravo found out what no one knew yet: at the same time, ABBA are two couples in love (Björn and Agnetha, Benny and Anni-Frid), a joyful bunch that’s producing good music...

  On a small, secret island, a two-hour drive from Stockholm, the foursome owns a house and a sailing boat. The quartet spends its happiest hours there.

  Agnetha and Anni-Frid, the two singing and dancing girls, are the main attraction of ABBA at the moment. Originally, it was the other way around. Two years ago, Björn and Benny contracted these blonde girls as backing singers. Not only because of their talents. It was love at first sight with all four of them, and it has remained that way up till this day...

  At three o’clock in the afternoon, we’re strolling with ABBA through Stockholm’s Old Town. Suddenly, they get the urge to do something crazy. Björn and Benny hurry into a music store, to get a guitar and a banjo. And right in the middle of a small, idyllic market place, they start to play. Women with shopping bags, working men, police men, boys and girls are standing still, spontaneously singing along, clapping their hands. ABBA happens to be a group, that not only on the television screen, wins a person’s heart by storm...
