Há 40 anos atrás, ABBA participou pela 2ª vez no Melodifestivalen (Pré-Selecção Sueca para o Eurovision Song Contest), depois de ter ficado em terceiro lugar em 1973 com a música "Ring Ring".
Desta vez, ABBA participou com a música "Waterloo". A escolha da música foi um momento decisivo, entre "Waterloo" ou "Hasta Mañana", mas escolheram "Waterloo" pois em "Hasta Mañana", seria Agnetha a vocalista principal, e Benny, Björn e Stig queriam equilíbrio no estrelado entre Agnetha e Anni-Frid.
ABBA foi selecionado para representar a Suécia em Abril, em Brighton, com 302 pontos.

This time, ABBA participated with the song "Waterloo". The music choose was a decisive moment, between "Waterloo" or "Hasta Mañana", but they chosen "Waterloo" because "Hasta Mañana", Agnetha would be the first singer, and Benny, Björn and Stig wanted to had a balance with the starry between Agnetha and Anni-Frid. ABBA was selected to represent Sweden in April, in Brighton, with 302 points.
